Palmer has been chosen an All-American City finalist in 1989 and enjoys the most beautiful setting any town could have. Ours is a delightful town which serves as a trade center for an area of about 16, people and is host to uncounted visitors from far and wide who come to enjoy Palmer's scenic beauty and its recreation opportunities. Palmer is the seat of the Matanuska Susitna Borough, spanning 23, square miles, Mat-Su as it is often called, is the link between Alaska's two largest cities, Anchorage to the south and Fairbanks to the north. It's truly Alaska's gateway to Denali National Park.
