Nenana was originally a Native village. The Athabascan translation of Nenana is "Good place to camp between two rivers." Nenana offers a full range of services and is full of Alaskan History. Today Nenana is a friendly community with a population of about 500.

Nenana is located in the heart of Alaska at mile 305 of the George Parks Hwy. The "Parks" is the main highway that crosses Alaska connecting the interior with the coast. Nenana is just 50 miles South of Fairbanks 70 miles North of the entrance to Denali National Park and 300 miles from Anchorage.
